How fast is Big Red Communications' service?

We can deliver speeds comparable or faster than most cable and DSL providers. Our robust network is backed by multiple Gigabit connections to the internet unlike many other providers who rely on one T1 line. Also, unlike cable or DSL modems your upload and download connection speeds can be the same and latency is generally much lower! This means we can offer faster more consistent connectivity!! What hardware is included?

Big Red Communications will help you get all the hardware you need to get up and running. This includes a subscriber unit antenna, radio, all the equipment to connect it to your computer, and all of the mounting equipment.

Do I need a separate ISP?

No. Big Red Communications is your Internet Service Provider through your "always on" connection.

Can I still keep my other Internet Service Provider's (ISP) e-mail addresses?

As long as you are still a customer with your previous ISP as well, you can still keep your other ISP e-mail addresses.

Why is my neighbor able to receive Big Red Communications' service and I am not?

In order to receive service, you must have line of sight to one of Big Red Communications' towers. Trees, buildings, etc. may interfere with line of sight from one home/business and not from another.

Can I host a server?

Can I get Big Red Communications' service for my business?

Yes! Big Red Communications offers residential service as well as a wide range of business services including web hosting.

Is there any technical support available?

For any wireless internet-related questions or billing concerns, you can contact our support staff by phone at 402-380-7620 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (CST) Monday through Friday or email us at info@bigredne.com. After hours support is available to business, residential and dedicated service level subscribers by calling 402-380-7620 and choosing option 3 or emailing techsupport@bigredne.com. Please make sure to include your name, address, phone number and a brief description of your problem.

What are the minimum system requirements?

  • Any modern Operating System, including:
    Windows, Mac, and Linux

  • CPU Speed: 100MHz or higher

  • Memory: 32 MB RAM

  • 20 MB of free hard drive space

Does Big Red Communications service use my current phone line?

No. Big Red Communications will never tie up your phone line. With Big Red Communications you can talk on the phone and surf the internet at the same time.

Do I have to sign a contract?

Big Red Communications does not require you to sign a contract.

Can I hook up more than one computer?

Yes. You can have as many computers on your private, internal network as you would like. We provide a single connection that can be connected to a router to provide multiple connections to a private network. Router must be purchased separately.

Is there a dial-up number for access away from home?

Not at this time.
